LOS ANGELES – In opposition to last night's pitchers' duel, Pacific (14-34, 6-20) and LMU (28-22, 20-6) hit the ball all over the park in the 12-6 Lions win.
Graduates
Ben Nemivant and
Jeremy Lea both had two hits and one double; Lea drove in a run. Freshman
Jake Tandy and junior
Chaz Myers also had hits.
Senior
Marvcus Guarin started the game and pitched 4.0 innings with two strikeouts and six hits allowed. Senior
Tyler Stout pitched 2.0 innings in relief with two strikeouts. Sophomore
Daniel Barrera and freshman
Ryan Martinez each saw an inning of work.
Pacific scored first, as Tandy reached on an error, bringing in Nemivant. LMU responded with four runs of its own in the bottom of the inning to take an early lead.
Pacific cut into the lead in the top of the third as Lea singled to right to bring in Myers. LMU scored once in the fourth and four times in the fifth to take a 9-2 lead.
After LMU added one more in the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers responded, scoring four runs in the top of the eighth on a fascinating sequence. Myers walked with one out before Lea doubled down the right field line, as Myers scored on a throwing error from the first baseman.
Another out, followed by two walks, loaded the bases for the Tigers. Sophomore
Andrew Guidara reached on a fielders choice; a throwing error from the Lions shortstop allowed three runs to score and put Guidara on third, making it a 10-6 game.
LMU scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to get the two teams to the final score of 12-6.
The regular season finale for the Tigers is tomorrow. The first pitch is at 1 p.m.
