STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific softball team dropped the final game of the three-game set, falling to LMU 6-1 in a West Coast Conference contest at Bill Simoni Field.
"We didn't make the necessary adjustments to win the game," Head Coach
Brian Kolze said. "The late-inning hiccups took us out of striking distance, but we need to find a way to put more runners on base."
Jordan Hayes provided the Tigers (9-18, 0-3) with the early lead in the bottom half of the second inning with an RBI infield single. After
Rian Dirmeyer reached base and advanced into scoring position on a throwing error from the pitcher, Jenna Perez, Hayes connected for her third RBI of the season, sending a high chopper to second, scoring Dirmeyer from second base.
The Lions (17-16, 3-0) responded in the following inning with a two-run home run from Morgan DeBord, giving the team a 2-1 advantage.
The Lions poured on four more runs in the sixth inning, securing the win and the series sweep.
Pacific returns to action on Saturday, April 15, as it takes on San Diego for a West Coast Conference doubleheader at the USD Softball Complex.
