SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Pacific softball team dropped a West Coast Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon, falling to San Diego, 13-1, and 3-1, at the USD Softball Complex.
San Diego 13, Pacific 1 (five innings)
Five team members recorded hits for the Tigers (9-20, 0-5) throughout the series' opening game, with Carly Lucchetti, Kyla Eck, Delaney Scully, Allie Capello, and Asia Lee reaching the basepath.
After the Toreros (17-23-1, 3-2) scored 13 runs in the first three innings of play, the Tigers got on the board in the top half of the fifth on a Scully RBI double, scoring Lee, her first run of the season.
San Diego 3, Pacific 1
The Toreros jumped out in front for the second straight game, scoring three runs in the third and fourth innings.
Lee provided the Tigers with offense, putting the team on the board in the fifth inning with an RBI double. With two outs and a baserunner in scoring position, Lee powered a long double to center field, scoring Rian Dirmeyer from second base.
Vanessa Strong had a solid outing in the circle for the Tigers, pitching six innings, allowing three runs on five hits. Strong recorded two strikeouts in her 13th appearance, increasing her team-leading total to 45.
Pacific returns to action at noon on Sunday, April 16, as it wraps up the three-game set against San Diego at the USD Softball Complex.
