Three Tiger Home Runs Not Enough to Down Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. - A late run was not enough for Pacific (13-26, 5-14) as the Tigers fell to Gonzaga (15-24, 10-8) by an 8-5 final.

Freshman Jake Tandy led the team with three hits, three RBI and two home runs. Junior Jacob Weiss had two hits and scored two runs. Freshman Kaden Petersen had two hits, and junior Chaz Myers hit a two-run home run.

Senior Grant Stevens started the game and pitched 7.0 innings, striking out five and allowing five earned runs. Sophomore Owen McWilliam pitched 1.0 inning with two strikeouts.

Pacific took a second-inning lead as Myers homered to right field to give the Tigers an early 2-0 lead. The Zags got on the board in the bottom of the third, scoring on a strikeout. Gonzaga tied the game in the bottom of the fourth before scoring four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead.

Tandy closed the gap in the seventh, hitting a two-run home run to left field, bringing the Tigers within two. The Bulldogs scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to extend the lead.

Tandy hit a second home run in the ninth inning, a solo shot to left field.

The two teams are back in action tomorrow. The first pitch will be at 6 p.m.
