SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Pacific softball team dropped a West Coast doubleheader Saturday afternoon, falling to Santa Clara 9-0 in five innings and 3-2 in nine innings at the Santa Clara Softball Stadium.
We battled in the second game today, but the opposition was one swing better than us," Head Coach

Santa Clara 9, Pacific 0 (five innings)
The Tigers (9-23, 0-8) collected five hits in the first game of the doubleheader, with the underclassmen bearing the bulk of the load. Asia Lee, Allie Capello, and Jordan Hayes showed out and combined for three of the team's five hits.
The Broncos (20-21, 2-6) scored three runs in the first two innings of play before adding six in the third to break open the game and secure the win. The Broncos used five hits and eight walks throughout the contest to down the Tigers.
Santa Clara 3, Pacific 2 (nine innings)
The Broncos opened the contest with runs in the first two innings to grab an early 2-0 advantage. The Tigers responded in the fourth inning, cutting the deficit in half on a Hayes RBI infield single, scoring Capello.
The tying run crossed in the sixth, with Delaney Scully leading off with a double to center field. Quickly advancing to scoring position on a Capello sacrifice bunt, Scully tied the game at two on a fielding error from the shortstop, Morgan Salmon.
In a wild ninth inning of play that saw the Tigers throw out a runner at the plate to preserve the comeback, the Broncos ultimately scored the winning run on a Salmon RBI single.
Pacific returns to action at noon on Sunday, April 23, when it takes on Santa Clara in the series finale at the Santa Clara Softball Stadium.
