LA JOLLA, Calif.- The Pacific women's tennis team (3-2) shut out UC San Diego (5-6) and earned a 7-0 win Saturday morning at the Northview Tennis Courts.
Senior
Danielle Zamora and sophomore
Megan Carmichael defeated UCSD, 6-4, to start the doubles competition. Senior
Klara Kosan and sophomore
Karina Chao secured the doubles point for the Tigers at the third doubles flight with a 7-5 victory.
"We got down on all three doubles courts, but our squad was able to stay calm and fight their way back to win," Head coach
Mike Erwin said. "We carried that momentum into singles and won all six courts."
Pacific earned all six singles points as two members picked up their first singles victories of the season. Sophomore
Alexis Sam defeated her opponent in a quick 6-1, 6-1 win at sixth singles. Kosan, Chao, senior
Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle, and Zamora also picked up singles points.
Sophomore
Tomi Main picked up her first singles win of the season in an intense three-set match. After dropping the first set 6-7, Main bounced back and won the following two sets 6-2, 10-6.
"Great team win today," Erwin continued. "I'm thrilled with the individual efforts from Alexis [Sam] and Tomi [Main], who got their first singles wins of the season."
Pacific is back in action at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, as it takes on Nevada at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center.
