Tigers Take Down Wolf Pack

RENO, Nev. – Pacific baseball (8-14, 1-5) took down Nevada (11-13, 2-6) Monday afternoon, using a four run sixth inning to take a 6-5 win.

Freshman Tony Otis had a career day, collecting two hits and driving in a career-high three RBI. Junior John-Howard Bobo scored two runs.

Freshman Jake Tandy got the start on the mound, pitching 3.0 innings with three walks and three runs allowed. Sophomore Owen McWilliam struck out two in 2.0 innings pitched while picking up the win. Freshman Ryan Martinez picked up his first career save, pitching 0.1 innings, and not allowing a hit.

Nevada started the scoring with an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning. The Wolf Pack added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take an early 3-0 lead.

Pacific got on the board in the top of the fifth, as Bobo scored on a wild pitch to cut the Nevada lead to two.

The Tigers put up four runs in the sixth, with timely hitting and aggressive base running leading the charge. Pacific loaded the bases with a hit, two stolen bases and two walks. A bases loaded walk for sophomore Andrew Guidara brought in the first run of the inning. A Wolf Pack throwing error brought in a second run before Otis singled to center field with two runners in scoring position to give Pacific its first lead of the game.

Otis added what ended up being an important insurance run in the eighth, with an RBI double to left center, bringing home freshman Andrew Sloan.

Nevada scored twice in the ninth but Martinez came into the game with the tying run on second and worked out of the jam and securing the Pacific win.

The Tigers are back home this weekend, hosting San Francisco in a three-game series.
