Stevens Shines in Pacific Win Over San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Pacific (7-10, 1-2) picked up its first win over San Diego (8-9-1, 2-1) since 2019 as senior Grant Stevens pitched a complete game in the 5-2 win.

Stevens allowed just two runs in nine innings as he recorded his first career complete game. He struck out five Toreros while walking just three and throwing 135 pitches.

Junior Chaz Myers led the team with three hits and two runs scored. The RBIs were all provided by freshmen, with Tony Otis and Jack Metcho driving in two runs and Peyton Miller driving in an RBI.

The exact opposite of how the game played out yesterday: San Diego took an early lead just to see Pacific roar back in the later innings to take the win.

A run scored on a double play in the first inning for the Toreros before a home run in the third inning made it 2-0 for San Diego.

Miller got the scoring started for Pacific in the fourth, bringing home junior Jacob Weiss, which was quickly followed up by an RBI groundout from Metcho to even the game at two.

Otis gave Pacific its first lead in the top of the sixth, hitting a triple down the left-field line to bring in Miller and Myers. Metcho then drove in Otis with a sacrifice fly to center.

Stevens shut down the San Diego bats in the final three innings, allowing just two baserunners in three innings.

Pacific is back in action at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 20, taking on CSU Bakersfield on the road.
