SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team (6-9) opened the WCC schedule with a road contest against last season's WCC champions, San Diego (7-8-1). Pacific scored first, but San Diego roared back, scoring nine straight to take a 9-3 win.
Graduate
Ben Nemivant continued to hit everything in sight, picking up two more hits in three at-bats. Junior
Chase Graves homered again, bringing in two runs. Graduate
Jeremy Lea collected two hits and drove in a run.
Freshman
Cooper Lanz started the game and pitched 3.1 innings with three strikeouts, and four earned runs. Sophomore
Daniel Barrera pitched 2.0 scoreless innings with one strikeout.
Lea started the scoring off in the top of the first inning. With two runners in scoring position, Lea grounded out, bringing home Nemivant. Former Tiger
James Arakawa doubled in the bottom of the first to bring in two runs and give San Diego the lead.
San Diego scored in the second, third, fourth and eighth innings to take a 9-1 lead heading into the ninth.
Graves hit his second home run in as many games, bringing in two runs. Pacific could not continue the momentum, as the game ended with the next batter.
Pacific is back in action against San Diego tomorrow. The first pitch is at 5 p.m.
