PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Pacific men's golf team finished in 8th place after shooting a 6-over-par 290 in the final round of the Grand Canyon Invitational Tuesday morning at Grand Canyon Golf Course.
Seniors
Griffin Long and
Maverick Pavletich led the Tigers with Long to finishing the tournament at 1-under-par 212 (70-69-73) and in a tie for 16th. Long also made a team-high 12 birdies over the 54-hole event.
Pavletich recorded rounds of 73-69-71 to finish at even-par 213 and in a tie for 19th. Senior
Petr Janik finished in a tie for 34th at three-over-par 216. Freshman Tim Jung and Senior Leonardo Rigamoni wrapped up the team of five with nine-over-par 222 and eleven-over-par 224, respectively.
Senior
Thomas O'Rourke finished in a tie for 45th, playing as an individual at six-over-par, shooting rounds of 75-74-70.
"We had to finish stronger the last few holes as a team," Head Coach John Cook said after the tournament. "We're trying to build momentum and get back into the competitive realm after the cancelation of the Amer Ari."
The cancellation of the Hawaii-hosted event meant that this was the first tournament for the Tigers in four months.
Pacific returns to action on Monday, Mar. 27, as the Tigers compete in the Oregon Duck Invitational, hosted at the Eugene Country Club.
