STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific men's golf head coach John Cook announced on Thursday afternoon the addition of Chris Ebster as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Ebster, a native of Modesto, California, served most recently as the associate head coach of the men's and women's golf programs at Modesto Junior College since January 2025.

I'm excited to have Chris as part of the Pacific golf coaching staff," Cook said. "His playing abilities and passion to help develop the new team members as well as the returning players will be a great addition to the program!"

In his first year coaching at MJC, Ebster helped the men's team qualify for their first California Junior College State Championship in eight years. Ebster is eager to bring some local flavor to the Tigers and make an immediate impact to the staff for the upcoming campaign.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to join the University of the Pacific golf family," Ebster said. "Growing up in the Central Valley, Pacific has always been a program I have admired for a long time. Having the opportunity to work alongside Coach Cook and learn from him is something I am incredibly grateful for. What he has done for this program over the course of his time here has been extremely impressive and I am excited to keep building on that tradition of excellence. I look forward to contributing in every way I can and doing my part to bring a few more championships home to Pacific."

Prior to MJC, Ebster spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at William Penn in Iowa.

As a player, Ebster suited up for two years at UNLV where he had one top five finish as a sophomore during the 2019 at the Jackrabbit Invitational. Following his time as a Rebel, Ebster played for two years at Stanislaus State. In the Fall 2022, he was ranked the No. 1 Div. II golfer in the country. During that season, Ebster secured nine top ten finishes, four top five finishes and one individual win at the Hawaii Pacific Southwest Shootout. Ebster earned accolades on the 2023 CCAA All-Conference Team and took third place individually at the CCAA Conference Championship in 2023.

Ebster also served as a caddy for his mother on the Senior LPGA Tour where she finished top ten in 2021. Ebster's uncle, Eric Arnold, was a golf coach at Pacific from 1990 to 1996.

Ebster graduated from Stanislaus State in 2023 with a business administration degree with a concentration in marketing. Ebster graduated from William Penn with his master's degree in sports management in 2025.
