Three Tigers Score in Double Figures in Tough Loss to Columbia

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific women's basketball dropped its final non-conference game of the season to Columbia 93-75 on Sunday at Alex G. Spanos Center.

Junior Elizabeth Elliott led Pacific (8-5) with 15 points. Graduate student Cecilia Holmberg and junior Anaya James both had 14 points apiece. Holmberg grabbed a team-high seven rebounds while James notched a season-high nine assists.

Both teams traded back and forth baskets in the first four minutes of the game. The Lions went on a 15-0 run at the 6:08 mark, taking a 22-9 lead over the Tigers. Columbia (9-4) outscored Pacific 27-11 in the first quarter.

The Tigers were held to .379 from the field in the first half, including .313 in the first quarter.

Pacific shot .500 in the third quarter which was its best shooting percentage in the game. A layup from James and a three-pointer from Holmberg in the first minute brought the Tigers within 10, 49-39. Elliott registered 10 points during the quarter and notched a layup at the 2:49 mark to cut the Lions lead by 10 for the second time, 69-59. Unfortunately, that was as close as Pacific could get in the game as Columbia continued to build its lead.

The Lions outrebounded the Tigers 40-26 and had 10 points off 13 offensive rebounds. Columbia also scored 21 points on the fast break.

Up next, Pacific starts West Coast Conference play with a trip to Saint Mary's at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
