STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific men's basketball takes a trip to take on Cal State Fullerton in its final road game of 2023 on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. The Tigers play their second to last game of the 2023 calendar year.
Pacific's (5-8) scoring is spearheaded by senior guard/forward
Judson Martindale. He's averaging 11.1 PPG through 13 contests, shooting 47.2 percent from the floor and 20-of-56 from deep. Against Stanislaus State on Monday night, the senior scored 13 points in the winning effort, going 3-of-5 from three point land and 5-of-7 from the floor.
The catalyst for Pacific's offense, sophomore guard
Moe Odum, dished out three more assists on Monday night, bringing his season total to 58. His 4.5 assists per game rank him second in the WCC. He's averaging 7.9 PPG, shooting 37-of-97 from the floor and has knocked down 17 three pointers this year.
Finding his place halfway through the season is senior guard
Nick Blake. In his second appearance on Monday night, he tied as the Tigers' leading scorer with 14 points going 5-of-12 from the floor while hauling in a team leading 6 rebounds. Junior guard
Tyler Beard also went for 14 points, going 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 5-of-9 from the floor.
Cal State Fullerton (6-5) plays its final non-conference game this season against Pacific. The Titans are led by junior guard Max Jones, who's averaging 17.0 PPG and 2.1 steals per game this year. Jones is 55-of-138 from the floor and 19-of-57 from three. Both Jones and junior guard Grayson Carper lead the team with 19 made three pointers this year.
Also averaging double digit scoring is senior guard DJ Brewton, with 14.5 PPG through 11 games. He leads the team with 5.5 FGM a game, shooting 42.3 percent from the floor. Brewton averages 4.5 rebounds a game, while leading the Titans with 2.7 assists per game.
Aiding them is sophomore guard Donovan Oday, who's averaging 7.6 PPG for the Titans. He's 32-of-75 from the floor through 11 games.
Pacific leads the all-time record against Cal State Fullerton 48-40. Both teams have winning records on their respective home floors, with the Tigers 31-12 in Stockton and the Titans 27-16 in Fullerton. The Titans have had the edge recently winning four of the last five games since Pacific left the Big West in 2013, but all contests in that time frame have been decided by an average of 3.4 points.
