STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific men's and women's swimming made strides on the second day of the UNLV Invite, both moving up to 5th place with 238 points for the men and 220 for the women. The invitational concludes tomorrow evening.

The Tigers earned multiple new personal records through Monday's 10 prelims and 14 finals events. The morning prelims opened with the 400 IM, with both junior
Jordyn Gonzales and junior
Emma Hooper starting the day off for Pacific. Gonzales dropped 4.02 seconds from her seeded time, clocking a 4:34.06, while Hooper improved by nearly half a second, earning a 4:42.02

Aidan Scott clocked a new PR with a 4:02.36 in the 400 IM, dropping 5.88 seconds.

Caitlin Tan saw the fastest time for a Tiger in the 100 fly prelim, opening with a 55.08 to drop 2.43 seconds from her seeded time. Junior
Alexia Ferguson continued to cruise through the invitational, clocking a 1:52.20 in the 200 free, dropping nearly half a second.Â

Mitchell Hopper claimed the fastest time in the 200 free prelim, coming in at 1:38.31, dropping 2.85 seconds off of his seeded time. Senior
June Akpata earned a new PR in the 100 breast, clocking a 1:08.78 to drop 3.25 seconds.

Returning to action on Monday night for the finals races, the Pacific women took seventh in the 200 medley relay, coming in at 1:43.62. The men took sixth, finishing with 1:29.61.

Gonzales returned for the 400 IM final, taking sixth overall with a time of 4:36.55. Hooper took eighth with a 1:32.72. Scott, in the men's 400 IM, took eighth with 4:03.02

Tan took eighth in the 100 fly with a 56.38, while junior
Leland Baltazar earned a new PR in the event with a 49.68.

Hopper returned for the men's 200 free, dropping 1.58 seconds to take second with a 1:36.73 en route to a new PR.

The evening concluded with the 800 free relays. The women took fifth with a 7:33.73 and the men took fourth with a 6:43.95.

Both the men and women return tomorrow for the final day of the UNLV Invite. Prelims begin at 9:30 a.m. and finals are set for 5 p.m.
