NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team traveled to Northridge to participate in the three-day CSUN Fall Invitational for its final competition this fall. The invite started Friday, Nov. 10 and lasts through Sunday, Nov. 12.
 
Including Pacific, eight other schools journeyed to Northridge as Cal Lutheran, Cal State Fullerton, Middle Tennessee State, Portland, UC Irvine, UTEP, Westmont and Youngstown State are all set to compete in the hidden dual style event this weekend. Each day begins with singles matches, followed by doubles in the afternoon and then concludes with another round of singles.
 
Pacific opened the invite taking on UTEP Friday morning in a bout of singles matches. The Tigers moved to 4-1 with victories from freshman Indiya McLeod and juniors Zara Fung, Alexis Sam and Megan Carmichael.
 
Sam earned the 6-3, 6-1 decision over UTEP's Carlotta Mencaglia, while McLeod took care of the Miners' Veronika Lebisova 6-3, 6-4. Carmichael cruised to 6-1 in the first set over Elena Dibatista, earning the victory in the tiebreaker second set 8-6. Fung earned victory in a forced third set, as she downed Zuzanna Szczepanska 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.
 
The Tigers returned later Friday afternoon, taking on UC Irvine in doubles. Sam and McLeod earned the 6-4 decision over the Anteater tandem of Emily Fowler and Carolyna Fowler. Fifth year senior Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle debuted for the first time this fall, teaming up with Carmichael to take on Irvine's Kayla Meraz and Asha Gidwani, but the duo fell 7⁷-6⁴.
 
Pacific returns to action tomorrow morning for the second day of the invitational.
