Men’s Soccer Faces Santa Clara in Season Finale

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific men's soccer (5-7-4, 1-4-1 WCC) plays its final game of the season at Santa Clara (6-7-3, 4-1-1 WCC) at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Last week, the Tigers dropped a 4-0 decision to defending West Coast Conference champion San Diego on the road.
 
This week, Pacific plays one of the co-leaders in the league standings in the Broncos. Santa Clara enters its Senior Day competition after winning last week's matchup with Gonzaga by a 3-2 score.
 
In the last two meetings between the Tigers and Broncos, there have been two ties with the most recent result occurring at Knoles Field with a 0-0 finish on Oct. 1, 2022. In 2021, Pacific and Santa Clara fought to a 2-2 draw after two overtime periods at Stevens Stadium. Fifth-year senior Derick Roque scored the opening goal on a rebound play in the effort offensively.
 
In the series against the Broncos, Pacific holds a 1-1-2 away record going back to 2014. The Tigers earned a road victory against the Broncos in 2017 by a 4-3 score.
 
Santa Clara is led offensively by senior midfielder Adem Hamdaoua, who has had a hand in seven of the ten goals scored by Santa Clara in conference play. He has scored a goal in each of the first three WCC games plus in the last game and assisted in three other contests. In conference play, Hamdaoua leads in game-winning goals (3) and points (11) and is tied for first in assists (3) and goals (4).
 
Junior goalkeeper Jack Stoecker has started all six conference games for the Broncos, holding a .839 save percentage (.839) which leads the WCC.
 
It's the final collegiate match at Pacific for ten Tigers, including Roque, who has put together a strong season with a team-best nine goals and 21 points. The South Gate, Calif., native has scored in all but five games this year. In the WCC, Roque is second in goals and third in points.
 
Redshirt junior Joshua Moya has started 13 games in net. The Gilroy, Calif., native has collected 51 saves while recording two shutouts. Moya is third in the WCC with 3.92 saves per game.
