STOCKTON, Calif. – After day two of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, the Pacific men's golf team stands in 13th place of 17 teams, shooting nine-over-par 297 in the second round Tuesday at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
The Tigers completed the second day of their home tournament with an overall score of three-over 579 (282-297). Loyola Marymount and Grand Canyon are tied in first place with 23-under 553. Utah rounds out the top three with an 18-under 558 (275-283).
The Tigers had three golfers stand in the top third of the player leaderboards, which consist of 99 players.
Freshman
Carlos Astiazaran and senior
Alex Barclay ended in a tie for 25th place, scoring a two-under 142. While Astiazaran collected a consecutive day with an under-par score (one-under 71), Barclay finished with a three-over 75, which featured a chip-in birdie from a bunker on his final hole of the afternoon. Barclay also registered an eagle on the ninth hole in the second round.
Sophomore
Timothy Jung shot a four-over 76 in the second round to put him in a tie for 29th place with one-under 143 through two days.
Rounding out the team scoring, senior
Petr Janik holds on to an eight-over 152 (77-75) and sophomore
Ian Fritz carries a ten-over 154 (77-77) into tomorrow.
In individual scoring, fifth-year senior
Maverick Pavletich bounced back from the opening round, shooting a two-under 70 today for a total tournament score of three-over 144 (77-70). Freshman
Samuel Pampling finished his second round with a three-over 75, marking a ten-over 154 (79-75) across the two days so far. Junior
Daniel Henely posted a 16-over 160 (80-80) while senior
Haakon Mathiesen tallied a 32-over 176 (85-91).
Pacific tees off the final round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Fans are invited free of charge.
