Women's Basketball Zachary Karbach

Tigers Host San Diego and BYU

STOCKTON, Calif. – As the Pacific women's basketball team (7-13, 2-7) starts the second half of the WCC schedule, the team will prepare to host San Diego (10-10, 4-5) and BYU (11-9, 6-3). 

Junior Liz Smith leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.4 points per game and has scored double-digits in five of her last six games, including 21 points against Gonzaga. Smith is fifth in the conference and 16th in the nation in three-point percentage, hitting 44.4% of her shots. Sophomore Anaya James is tied for first in the WCC in assists per game and steals per game, averaging 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals. Her 95 assists rank 35th in the nation. Sophomore Elizabeth Elliott is the top rebounder on the team, averaging 6.1 per game and has grabbed at least four in five straight games. 

San Diego is tied with Saint Mary's for sixth in the conference. San Diego scored 56 points in both losses last week against Santa Clara and San Francisco. Keira Oakry leads the team in scoring and making threes, averaging 10.4 points and 23 threes. San Diego is ninth in the conference in points scored per game but is third in the conference in points allowed per game. 

BYU's loss to Santa Clara was its first since December 19th, 2022. The Cougars won seven straight games before that, including six straight WCC contests, scoring at least 60 points in every game during the win streak. Lauren Gustin continues to be one of the best players in the conference, being in the top five in both scoring and rebounding. Gustin is the leading rebounder in the nation, grabbing 16.2 boards per game.
