LOS ANGELES – The #4 Pacific men's water polo team (13-2) travels to Southern California to take on #2(T) UCLA (13-1) on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Spieker Aquatics Center.
"We are always learning, adapting and iterating. This past weekend showed us a lot of things about who we are, where we stand, and what to expect from top-level opponents and how the game is being refereed," said Head Coach James Graham. "All this information is being processed and assessed, and we will continue to improve as we look forward to another Top 5 opponent. The guys know what it takes, and we are approaching the week with the appropriate resolve and focus."
The Tigers last beat the Bruins in 2013 and hope to do it again this weekend in Los Angeles.
At the MPSF Tournament hosted by Stanford over the weekend, the Tigers went 3-1, only losing to then #3, now #1 Stanford.
Pacific defeated #14 UC San Diego 14-11 for the first game of the tournament. Last week's Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week, sophomore Mihailo Vukazic, shot 100% and was four for four on goals in that game.
Against Stanford, senior Djordje Stanic led the team with three goals, and in the game against #8 UC Santa Barbara, senior Matthew Hosmer and Vukazic had three goals apiece to lead the team.
In the final game of the tournament, senior Bogdan Djerkovic led the Tigers with five goals against #7 Long Beach State.
The Tigers are 13-2 on the season. The team's two losses come from then #1, now #2(T) Cal and now #1 Stanford.
