Tigers Fall on Senior Night

STOCKTON, Calif. – A quick start was not enough for the Tigers (14-31, 5-16) as San Diego (30-16, 16-8) completed the sweep 12-5.

Jacob Weiss continued his hot streak, hitting his fourth home run in four games and driving in three RBI. James Arakawa led the team with three hits, and James McClenaghan had two hits. Thomas Gavello drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Zach Patterson started the game and pitched 4.2 innings with one strikeout and seven hits. Hunter Schilperoort led the team with two strikeouts in 2.2 innings pitched.

The Toreros started the scoring first, with a two-run home run. Weiss responded in the bottom of the first with a towering shot to left field to put the Tigers up 3-2. The long ball game continued as San Diego hit another home run in the top of the second to tie the game.

The Tigers retook the lead in the bottom of the second with a Gavello sacrifice fly. The Toreros scored four more times in the fifth and three times in the sixth to pull away from the Tigers. Aiden Selfridge scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth, but the Tigers could not complete the comeback.

The Tigers head to Provo to take on BYU next weekend. The series will be played Thursday through Saturday.
