Men's Basketball Announces Williams as the Next Signee for 2022-23 Season

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team and Head Coach Leonard Perry have officially announced the next commitment of the 2022 signing class, Donovan Williams of Rockford, Ill.

Williams, a transfer from Oklahoma State, joins the Tigers after two seasons with the Cowboys, where he averaged 3.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per game during his sophomore season. Williams, who missed most of the 2020-21 season due to injury, appeared in nine games for the Cowboys last season and scored a career-high seven points against UT Arlington on November 9. Williams was a threat on the defensive side of the ball during the 2021-22 campaign, as he notched five steals in the first three games of the season.

Before his time with the Cowboys, Williams shined at Lincoln North Star High School, where he was named Nebraska's Mr. Basketball after leading the state with an average of 28.3 points per game. Rated as a four-star recruit by both ESPN and Rivals, Williams was no slouch on the defensive side of the ball during his time with the Gators, as he hauled in 8.1 rebounds and added 1.6 steals per game.

A true scorer from all three levels for the Gators, Williams posted a school-record 50 points against Class A state champion Bellevue West just days after scoring 44 points against Lincoln Northeast.

With his success at the high school level, Williams was a three-time First Team All-State selection and a two-time First Team Super-State honoree by the Nebraska Coaches Association. Williams also garnered First-Team All-state selections in 2019 and 2020 by the Lincoln Journal Star.

"Donovan comes to us as a former Mr. Basketball from the state of Nebraska," Perry stated regarding Donovan. "He's strong, can score at all levels, and can guard multiple positions." "His fearless, competitive spirit will infuse immediate confidence in our program."
