PORTLAND, Ore.: The Tigers headed north to battle Portland, three big innings from Portland doomed the Tigers, who fell 15-3.
Ben Nemivant led the Tigers with three hits, including a double, and he scored a run. Jacob Weiss and James McClenaghan also scored for the Tigers. Jarron Silva led the Tigers in RBI with one.
Hunter Hayes started for the Tigers and pitched 3.2 innings with four strikeouts, and one earned run. Caden Duke and Austin McKinney both had scoreless outings.
The Pilots got on the board in the first, with a single through the left side. After a scoreless second, the Pilots added on, scoring four runs in the third inning, three runs in the fourth and four more runs in the fifth.
The Tigers pushed two runs across in the seventh inning as the centerfielder misplayed a ball from Thomas Gavello, which allowed two Tiger runners to score. Three more Pilot runs came across in the bottom of the seventh before Silva drove in Weiss in the top of the eighth inning to reach the final score of 15-3.
The two teams are back in action tomorrow. The first pitch will be at 1 p.m.
