STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Women's Tennis team (10-9, 2-4) won both of their home WCC conference games this weekend after defeating Portland on Saturday afternoon, 4-3.

"I'm really impressed with our group's fight after dropping the doubles point to a scrappy Portland team," said Head Coach Mike Erwin. "These last two days, we've had our entire singles lineup on the court battling until the end. That truly shows that this young group is building upon the experience they've gained this year. We're excited to finish out at BYU next week and definitely excited about this group's future."

The Pilots took the doubles point and gained an early lead against the Tigers, but that didn't deter Pacific's players.

Junior Klara Kosan took down her opponent in first singles in a dominating win, 7-5, 6-0. In third singles, junior Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle won 6-3, 6-4 to put the Tigers up 2-1. Freshman Alexis Sam brought the Tigers to 3-1 with her 6-3, 6-4 win at fifth singles. Freshman Megan Carmichael clinched the match for the Tigers after a tough three-set battle, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

"We had great back-to-back matches the past two days," said Co-Captain Kosan. "Winning the doubles point on Friday against Gonzaga was huge and then following it with three solid singles wins to close it out. Today, even though we fell short of the doubles point, we had a lot of people out fighting. Leading us to win 4-3. I am super proud of how our team is finishing out the season and I am excited for our last match against BYU."
