Tigers Cannot Keep Up With Lions High Scoring Offense

STOCKTON, Calif. – The bats showed up in the final game of the series, with 22 total runs being scored. Loyola Marymount scored in all but two innings to lock up the 16-6 series win.

Chaz Myers continued his strong weekend, with four hits and scoring two runs for the Tigers. Thomas Gavello had three hits and a home run. Brandon Motheral drove in two with a home run. Jarron Silva also brought two runners in for the Tigers.

Caden Duke struck out two in 1.2 innings pitched to lead the Tigers. Marv Guarin started the game and went two innings allowing only five hits.

The Lions jumped on the Tigers early, scoring nine runs in the first three innings. The Tigers responded in the bottom of the third. Motheral got the Tigers on the board with a home run to dead center before Myers hit an RBI double and Silva singled to bring Myers home.

Only trailing by four, the Tigers looked to make it a game. Loyola Marymount had other plans, scoring two more in the fifth to reach double-digit runs. Silva brought home Myers again in the fifth, this time with a double as the Tigers chipped away at the lead.

The Lions scored three more times in the seventh and twice in the eighth before Gavello homered to right-center field in the bottom of the eighth to finish the scoring.

On Tuesday, the Tigers are back home as they will host UC Davis for a midweek matchup. The first pitch will be at 6 p.m.
