STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Women's Tennis team lost a heartbreaker for their first home and first conference match of the season 4-3 to Santa Clara.

The Broncos got off to a strong start winning the doubles point.

In first doubles, Klara Kosan and MiaAnjelina Ruja fell to Katherine Petty and Giulia Hayer 6-2.

In third doubles, Danielle Zamora and Maile Brilhante fell to Jamie Schroer and Velizara Fileva 6-1.

Second doubles was unfinished for Cindy Ung and Alexis Sam.

The Tigers fought for almost three hours of singles matches.

In her first bout at first singles, Ruja defeated Finley Kalinic 7-6, 6-3.

In fourth singles, Ung had a well-earned victory over Petty 6-2, 6-2.

In sixth singles, Sam defeated Hayer 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

Kosan lost a tough one in second singles to Schroer 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.

In fifth singles, Zamora lost another three-set battle to Fileva 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

The match, tied 3-3, came down to third singles. Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle fought a very long three sets but lost a close one to JennaMarie Gordon 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.

"Tough loss for us today with all three singles matches we lost going three sets. We had chances but didn't capitalize," said Head Coach Mike Erwin. "We're going to have to rebound from this one quickly as we face a tough Cal Poly squad tomorrow."
