STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Women's Tennis team (4-2) hosts its first home games of the spring season this weekend.
The Tigers host the Santa Clara Broncos (3-3) for their first conference game of the season on Saturday at 11 a.m. and the Cal Poly Mustangs on Sunday at noon.
The Tigers' game against the Broncos will serve as a tie-breaker for their record; currently, each team has seven wins against the other. The last match between the two squads was a 5-2 win for the Tigers in April 2021. The Tigers have won the last three games against the Broncos.
Against the Mustangs, the Tigers have a 4-10 record, losing a close one 3-4 the last time the teams faced off in February of 2019.
"We're looking forward to being home after a long stretch of road matches to start the season," said Head Coach
Mike Erwin. "We definitely aim our training and schedule at being ready for conference matches. I'm looking forward to our fans and supporters getting to see this team after not being able to have spectators last year. This is a special group who are growing with each opportunity to compete."
The Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center is open for the public to enjoy the Pacific Women's Tennis matches this weekend for free. There are no COVID-19 entry policies.
"I, for sure, have been looking forward to competing at home this weekend," said junior Co-Captain,
Danielle Zamora. "Everyone has friends, professors and family members who have been looking forward to bringing some Pacific Pride to our matches for a long time. We're going into these next few days fired up and ready to embrace the challenges of a conference match Saturday and a ranked team Sunday."
