MALIBU, Calif. - The Tigers started strong in the first few innings, but the Waves got to the bullpen, coming away with the 8-4 victory over the Tigers.
The bottom half of the lineup did most of the damage for the Tigers. Ben Nemivant, Jarron Silva and James McClenaghan all had two hits. Nemivant scored two runs and drove in one. Jeremy Lea and Thomas Gavello both drove in runs as well.
Elijah Birdsong started the game on the mound for the Tigers, pitching 5.0 innings with two strikeouts and allowing three runs. Jackson Vaughan recorded his eighth straight scoreless outing.
Pepperdine struck first in the bottom of the first, but the Tigers responded in the top of the second. Nemivant doubled down the right-field line to get the Tigers on the board before Lea drove him in with a single through the right side.
The Waves tied the game in the bottom of the second before taking the lead in the fifth inning. The Tigers answered in the sixth, and Brandon Motheral scored on a Waves error to bring the game even once again.
Pepperdine pulled away in the sixth, scoring three runs to take a 6-3 lead. The Waves scored once in the seventh and once in the eighth to make the score 8-3 before Gavello brought in a run in the ninth to bring the final score to 8-4.
The Tigers and Waves are back tomorrow. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
