EUGENE, Ore. – The Pacific men's golf team finished 12th in the 14-team Oregon Duck Invitational on Tuesday, carding a 309 on the final day to finish with a 54-hole total of 899 (302-288-309). The Tigers entered the day in 10th place after a strong second round but fell back on the final day at the Eugene Country Club.
"It's not the finish we were looking for today," said Head Coach
John Cook. "We had a couple of bad breaks, but unfortunately, that's golf. Now, we will refocus and prepare for the Seattle University Invitational."
Senior
Riley Killip led the team in scoring on Tuesday with a four-over-par 75. He finished tied for 35th in the field with a 54-hole total of 243 (+10). Junior
Leonardo Rigamonti was one stroke behind with an 11-over-par 224 score (74-73-77).
Junior
Maverick Pavletich carded a 79 and finished with a 227 (76-72-79). Junior
Griffin Long also finished with a 277 (77-70-80). Sophomore Haakon Mathesen scored a 78 on the final day to finish with a 233 (80-75-78).
Washington, who was ranked #8 in the nation entering the tournament, won the event at -19 with a three-round total of 833. Utah was second and the only other team under par at -2 with a score of 850. Oregon State and #3 Arizona tied for third at 869 (+17).
The Tigers have two events and the WCC Championships remaining on its schedule for the season. The next outing will be April 4-5 at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course.
