WAIMEA, Hawaii – The Pacific men's golf team improved on its tournament play on day two of the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii. The team shot nine-over-par on day one and seven-over-par on day two of the three-day tournament, sitting at 17th place in the 19-team field with a score of 592.
That 19-team field consists of some of the country's top teams, including six of the Top 10 teams and 12 teams ranked in the Top 50. After day two, Texas Tech leads the pool with a two-day score of 36-under-par 540.
Petr Janik and
Leonardo Rigamonti are both three over par and tied for 79th among the players participating in the tournament. Rigamonti had a team-best five birdies on Friday and was the team leader with a one-under-par 71.
Maverick Pavletich and
Haakon Mathiesen are tied for 94th overall, and
Riley Killip is tied at 105. Janik and Rigamonti shot plus-three on day two, and Pavletich and Mathiesen shot plus-five.
"Hopefully, we can stay away from a few of the big numbers and post a good team score tomorrow," said Head Coach
John Cook. "We are focusing on the positives from today and looking forward to getting back out on the course tomorrow."
The third round of the Amer Avi tees off Saturday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 a.m. Hawaii Time or 9:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.
