PHEONIX, Ariz. -- The Pacific softball team dropped a pair of games in the Lopes Up Classic, falling to Colorado State and Grand Canyon Saturday morning at the GCU Softball Stadium.
Colorado State 8, Pacific 4
After two scoreless innings, the Tigers (3-9) came alive in the third inning, scoring four runs to take a commanding lead. Natalie Linker, Reagan Hamilton, and Carly Lucchetti recorded RBI hits to give the Tigers the four-run advantage. Kyla Eck tallied the game's first run, scoring on a Linker RBI single. Hamilton recorded a two-RBI single Lucchetti followed with a bases-clearing triple to extend the lead to 4-0.
Hamilton finished as the lone Tiger to tally a multi-hit game as she went two-for-four with two RBI and scored a run.
The Rams (5-9) scored two runs in the bottom half of the third inning, cutting the lead to 4-2, and scored six more unanswered runs, including a five-run sixth inning to pull away late in the game.
Grand Canyon 9, Pacific 3
In the first inning, the Tigers jumped on the Antelopes (11-3), recording two runs to open the scoring. Emily Budelli began the inning with a lead-off single as the Tigers recorded four straight hits before an out was recorded. Hamilton, who finished the two games with four hits and three RBI, doubled to right-center field, giving the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.
Leading 2-1 in the third inning, the Tigers tallied one more run to cushion the lead. Delaney Scully, recording her eighth hit of the season, ripped a double down the right-field line, scoring Lucchetti to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.
Shortly after, the Antelopes unleashed on the Tigers, scoring seven unanswered runs to blow open the game late.
Pacific returns to action Sunday, Feb. 27 as the Tigers face-off against Colgate on the final day of the Lopes Up Classic with the first pitch scheduled for 8 a.m.
