Biography

2024 (Senior)
Appeared in 19 games and earned the start in ten. Grabbed two wins, including one shutout. Pitched 54.0 innings and notched eight assists. Delivered a season-high seven strikeouts in win over UIC. Registered 7.0 innings pitching against San Diego in 3-0 shutout. Went for season-high two assists against Iowa.

2023 (Junior)
Appeared in seven games, earning five starts in the circle. Led the team with a 2.37 earned-run average and held opponents to a 2.08 batting average. Accumulated 12 strikeouts in 20.2 innings while pitching two complete games. Pitched seven strong innings in the win over CSUN on February 19, allowing only two hits, one walk, while tallying one strikeout. Was the the March 2023 recipient of the CalHOPE Courage Award for overcoming stress, anxiety, and mental trauma associated with personal hardships and adversity. Captured WCC All-Academic and NFCA All-America Scholar-Ahtlete honors.

2022 (Sophomore)
Led the team in with a 3.47 earned-run average and tallied the most wins with five. Accumulated a 1.30 WHIP while ranking third on the team in strikeouts with 38. Tallied a career-high eight strikeouts against UC Davis on March 29. Allowed a .246 batting average which ranked first on the team and her four complete games ranked eighth-best in the conference.

2021 (Freshman)
Was second on the team with a 1.75 earned-run average while recording a perfect 2-0 record in 12 appearances in the circle. Allowed only eight earned runs in 32.0 innings pitched and was third on the team in strikeouts with 20. Pitched a season-high 6.0 innings against California Baptist on March 3 and tallied four strikeouts in the winning effort. Kept opposing teams off the base path throughout the season, allowing just a 1.98 batting average and tallying 11 walks.

High School
Was a four-year varsity letter winner at Martin Luther King High School. Played for a CIF Runner-Up team and received All-League Honors, Rookie of the Year, and the Peak Award. Earned All-Academic honors, Riverside County Academic Award, and a Student-Athlete (3.5GPA or higher) three times. Was a member of the OC Athletics 18U travel team. Aponte is not the only NCAA Division I softball player in her family. Her aunt, MiaSarah Cesena played softball at Loyola Marymount (2006-09) and cousin Larissa Cesena played as an infielder/outfielder for Arkansas (2019-22).
