CHICAGO, Ill. – The Pacific Women's Tennis team looks to continue their winning streak with two games in the central time zone this week. The Tigers are 3-0 on the Spring season.
"With this trip to the Midwest, we're looking to deepen the experience of our young squad," said Head Coach
Mike Erwin. "We're consistently putting challenges in front of this group and encouraging them to lean into those challenges. That's what we're looking forward to this weekend in Chicago."
Game one of the trip for the Tigers is against the Flames of The University of Illinois Chicago on Friday, Feb. 18 at 8 a.m. PT/10 a.m. CT. The Flames are 4-1 on their Spring season. They lost the doubles point in their last two matches, which could be a point to capitalize on for the Tigers as they've won the doubles point in two of their last three.
"I'm excited to be playing so far away in Chicago," said Junior Co-Captain
Klara Kosan. "We've been practicing indoors in preparation for this trip, so we're going in feeling confident."
Game two of the Illinois trip takes the Tigers to Northern Illinois University to face the Huskies on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7 a.m. PT/9 a.m. CT. The Huskies are 5-3 on their Spring season. There will be live scoring for the NIU vs. Pacific match: https://ioncourt.com/ties/62100f23ba7e4c5b7560e571.
This will be the first time Pacific and the two Illinois schools are meeting.
"It's great that we have the opportunity to travel to Chicago to play some new teams," said Junior Co-Captain
Danielle Zamora. "Especially since things have been so limited the last couple of years. We're looking forward to testing ourselves."
The Tigers are continuing to grow the depth of their team with each match this season. Juniors like
Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle, Zamora and Kosan have been an excellent backbone for the team, as freshman players like
MiaAngelina Ruja and
Alexis Sam clinch matches and continue to prove themselves as difference makers.
