STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team (7-3-10, 2-3-4) honored its seniors in the best way possible Saturday night with a 3-0 win over San Diego (2-12-5, 0-7-2).
Senior
Jaida Nyby had her first career two-goal game, vaulting her into a tie with fifth-year senior
Jenae Packard for the team lead. Freshman
Haley Johnson added her third goal of the season, while senior
Jade Enalen, freshman
Alexis Pashales and senior
Ryanne Molenaar all added assists. Senior
Brenna Crump made three saves in goal, while senior
Weronika Baranowska made four saves in the shutout.
The Tigers fired early and often against a young Torero back line, taking 14 shots in the first half. Nyby started the scoring early, grabbing a deflection off the goalkeeper and placing the ball in the back of the net in the second minute. Nyby added her second goal in the 32nd minute, receiving a pass from Enalen, sprinting passed the keeper and finding her second open net of the night.
With the two-goal lead, the Tigers gave the starters some time to catch their breath in the second half, only taking eight shots on goal while the Toreros attempted to get back in the game, putting five shots on goal. Johnson tacked on an extra insurance goal in the 72nd minute as great passes from Pashales and Molenaar found a sliding Johnson, who redirected the ball into the net.
