STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's soccer team (3-12-2, 2-3-1) closed its season with a 4-0 loss to #18 Portland (12-2-3, 6-1).
The match was tied heading into the half as both teams played solid defense on a chilly Stockton night. Both teams fired six shots, but each side's goalkeepers kept a clean sheet in the first with three saves from senior
Eric Cotton and one from Portland off a ball fired by junior
Javier Chavez.
Portland broke the scoreless tie in the second half as a penalty kick put the Pilots up 1-0. As the pilot light ignited in the second half for the Portland offense, Portland would add three more goals, including two off deflected saves. The Tigers stayed strong on offense, awarded nine corners while holding the Pilots to just three. Senior
Ryan Her had a chance to end his Tiger career with an exclamation point but his shot in the 90th minute was saved by the Pilots goalkeeper.
Cotton finished the night with seven saves. Her led the team with three shots, while senior
Derick Roque and Chavez added two.
