Tigers Take on Spartans in Final Regular Season Game

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The #7 Pacific men's water polo team (18-6, 3-1) travels west for its final regular season game at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, against Golden Coast Conference opponent #15 San Jose State (10-14, 0-4).

"All seedings are up in the air right now," said Head Coach James Graham. "We're playing the final regular season game this weekend, and this will determine our seeding for the GCC tournament. We're looking forward to using this opportunity to make ourselves ready for the conference tournament."

Since 2015, the Tigers have had an 11-0 record against the Spartans. Most recently, the Tigers defeated the Spartans at the Aggie Invitational in September 16-9.

Pacific, Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara are all tied at 3-1 in GCC play heading into this weekend, fighting for the top two seeds in the conference tournament. The top two seeds earn a bye to the semifinals.

With a win against the Spartans, the Tigers can clinch a share of the 2022 regular season title. The Tigers clinch the top seed if the Gauchos and the Beach both win or with a Tigers win and a Gauchos loss at Pepperdine on Saturday.

In the Tigers overtime, 14-13 loss to #9 UC Santa Barbara last weekend, sophomore Mihailo Vukazic scored a season-high five goals, had two assists, two steals, two drawn exclusions and a field block.

The Tigers continue to hold many of the leaderboard spots across the GCC.

Senior Bogdan Djerkovic and Vukavic are tied for second in goals in the GCC with 52, while senior Matthew Hosmer is right behind them at fourth with 50.

Sophomore co-captain Reuel D'Souza is second in the conference in assists with 38. Vukazic is tied for fifth with 26.

D'Souza is second in points with 81, only one point behind first place in the conference. Vukazic is third with 78.

Graduate student goalkeeper Bae Fountain continues to dominate the GCC leaderboard in saves with 201, 26 above second place.
