Women's Tennis Played Well at ITA Northwest Regional

STANFORD, Calif. - Pacific sophomore Tomi Main reached the round of 16 at the ITA Northwest Regional Championship (October 13-18) as the program picked up multiple singles wins.

"Solid event for our group at Regionals," said Head Coach Mike Erwin. "Tomi reaching the round of 16 and playing a tough match with Angelica Blake from Stanford, who made the final, was one of the highlights. A great start to her Tiger career."

Main came out victorious in the first round, where she defeated Mellissa Sakar of Washington (6-4, 6-4). She then moved on to the second round, where she played against Adrianna Sosnowska of Gonzaga. She dominated the match (6-1, 6-0). Main continued to cruise into the third round, beating Yura Nakagawa of Washington state (6-2, 6-3). Main's run ended when she played Blake of Stanford University (6-4, 6-3).

Sophomore Olivia Wiese won her first round against Kenzington Mann of Eastern Washington (6-4, 6-2). Wiese then continued her winning streak against Carly Schwartzberg of UC Davis (6-4, 6-2). In the third round, Wiese lost to Valencia Xu of Stanford University (6-0, 6-0).

"I was happy for Olivia, who won a couple of rounds in the main draw and Megan Carmichael, who went 3-1 in singles," continued Erwin. "Our squad is getting deep and gaining experience that will pay off come January."

Senior Klara Kosan continued her solid fall campaign, winning her first match against San Francisco's Chiho Muhsika (3-6, 6-4, 78-66) before dropping her second-round bout in straight sets.

Carmichael, sophomore Alexis Sam, and sophomore MiaAngelina Ruja also picked up wins in the consolation bracket.

The Tigers are back in action October 28-30 in the Saint Mary's Fall Invite.
