Berkeley, Calif. - The University of the Pacific men's water polo team finished sixth at the MPSF Championships by virtue of a 14-6 loss to UC Santa Barbara at the Spieker Aquatics Complex on Sunday. The loss drops the Tigers to 5-6 on the season.

The Gauchos outscored the Tigers by an 8-1 margin in the second half en route to the win. Pacific goalkeeper
John Hedges made 21 saves,
Jeremie Cote scored two goals and assisted on two more in the loss.

Santa Barbara, who raises its record to 14-3, were led by a four-goal effort from Dash McFarland and a three goal, three assist effort from Adam Gyenis in the win.

How it happened….
• The two teams were tied at 2 after the first period.
• Both goals from Pacific came from
Jeremie Cote.
• A goal by McFarland with 1:11 left in the opening half put the Gauchos ahead 6-5 at half.
• McFarland scored two more goals to start the second half as UCSB outscored Pacific 4-1 in the third quarter en route to the victory.

Next, Pacific will host USC, who captured the MPSF Championship, on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. in Los Angeles at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
