FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The University of the Pacific men's golf team rose from eighth place after the first 18 holes to move into second place at the Ram Masters Invitational at the Fort Collins Country Club on Monday.
The tournament got underway with blustery conditions that included a high of 54 and winds at 16 to 25 mph out of the north that proved to be a challenge for the field.

Pacific posted a 317 after the first 18 holes of the tournament as Wyoming and host Colorado State shared the lead with a 314. The top individual after 18 holes for the Tigers was
Leonardo Rigamonti (Eupilio, Italy), who carded a 75 (+5). Matteo Cristoni of Grand Canyon took the individual lead with an even par 70.

The rest of the Pacific lineup was separated by four strokes as
Maverick Pavletich (Bakersfield, Calif.) shot a 79,
Petr Janik (Havirov, Czech Republic) shot an 80 and
Haakon Mathiesen (Oslo, Norway) and
Griffin Long (Davis, Calif.) each posted an 83.

The second 18 holes of the day saw the Tigers post a team score of 306 for the lowest team score on the afternoon. The 306 was an 11-stroke improvement from the first 18 earlier in the day.

Rigamonti remained the top individual for the Tigers, recording a 74 for a 36-hole total of 149,+9 (75-74).He finished the day with five birdies and his three-over par play on par 4 was the best in the field. The top individual is Jack Castiglia of Northern Colorado, who shot a 144, +4 (73-71).
Pavletich matched his opening round with another 79 for a 158, +18 (79-79), plus Mathiesen made a leap from a tie of 54

thwith a second round 76 for a 159, +19 (83-76).

Another key contributor to the move into second place as a team was the play of Long, who moved from tied for 54
thto a share of 34
thwith a second round of 77 for a 160, +20 (83-77). To round out the Pacific lineup, Janik shot a 36-hole total of 162, +22 (80-82).
Tuesday's final round at the Fort Collins Country Club will get underway at 8 a.m. (MT)/7 a.m. (PST).
