Justin Hawkins-Young Promoted to Director of Basketball Operations

Pacific Athletics and head men's basketball coach Leonard Perry has announced the promotion of Justin Hawkins-Young from his role as the team's Digital Media Specialist to the Director of Basketball Operations.  
 
"Justin has been outstanding during this transition. He has filled every position on our staff with the exception of Head Coach," said Perry. "We are elated to have him move into this new role as Director of Basketball Operations and continue his growth in this business". 
 
Hawkins-Young enters his sixth season with the Pacific men's basketball program, following a playing career at UNLV. He joined the program as the Digital Media Specialist in 2016-17 for head coach Damon Stoudamire's first season. He served in that role for five years before Perry moved him into an assistant coach role in the summer of 2021 during the staff transition. 
 
Hawkins-Young got his first taste of coaching as an assistant coach at Liberty High School in Las Vegas. As a student-athlete with the Rebels, He averaged 5.3 points and 2.2 rebounds to go along with his tenacious defensive play that led UNLV to four-straight berths in the NCAA Tournament. He finished his playing career at UNLV in the top 10 in career steals. 

The Los Angeles native has earned his bachelor's degree in Hospitality Administration and a master of science in Hospitality from UNLV as well as a MBA from Grand Canyon University.
