STOCKTON, Calif. - A pair of goals in each half propelled the University of the Pacific women's soccer team to a 4-1 neutral site win over North Dakota State on a sunny Thursday afternoon in Boise, Idaho. The Tigers are now 2-0-1 to begin the 2021 season and is off to its best start since 2007 when Pacific opened the season with a 4-0-1 mark thorugh the first five contests.
How it happened…
• A rebound shot, four seconds after her first one bounced off the hands of the NDSU goalkeeper, junior
Jade Enalen found the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead in the 9
th minute.Â
• Later in the half, Pacific added to its lead when junior
Lauren Frohan scored amidst a scramble in the box after a pass from
Aniela Jensen in the 21
st minute for a 2-0 lead.Â
• The second half saw the Bison put pressure on the Tiger defense, outshooting Pacific by a 7-5 margin.Â
• Despite the increased pressure, the Pacific defense rose to the occasion with goalkeeper
Brenna Crump picking up her only save of the contest.Â
• The Tigers added to their lead when junior
Ryanne Molenaar scored in the 63
rd minute and Frohan added the assist to put Pacific ahead 3-0.Â
• The Bison spoiled the shutout bid with a goal in the 72
nd minute as Lavid Douglass scored.
In the closing minutes of the match, junior Jaida Nyby scored her second goal of the season after a pass from Molenaar for the final margin.
• The two teams each had 10 shots in the match with Pacific posting a 5-3 advantage in the first half. Enalen and Nyby led Pacific with two shots apiece and NDSU's Kelsey Kallio had a match-high four.
