Pacific Wraps up Regular Season at LMU

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Playing in their first road game since Mar. 27, the No. 12 Pacific women's water polo team (8-5, 5-1) will wrap up their 2021 regular season schedule with one final conference match when they visit No. 18 Loyola Marymont (3-4, 3-3) on Saturday morning.

THINGS TO KNOW:
  • Last time out, the Tigers dropped their first GCC match of the year in a tight contest with No. 12 Fresno State, falling 13-10 to the Bulldogs last Saturday in Stockton. However, Pacific responded the following day with two dominant wins over Fresno Pacific on senior day as UOP outscored the Sunbirds 39-20 in the two matches.
  • Heading into the weekend, redshirt senior Truly Dorland continues to lead the charge for the Tigers as she currently sits second in the GCC in goals (36) and fourth in steals (21). Additionally, junior Lucy Davis leads the conference in assists (32) while also placing tied for fifth with 43 total saves. In the cage, freshman Emanuella Nathan is making her case for Newcomer of the Year as she ranks tied for second with 62 total saves on the year.
  • Currently, Pacific is tied atop the GCC standings at 5-1 with No. 11 Fresno State and No. 14 San Diego State. This season, the Tigers took down the Aztecs, 11-10, om Mar. 13 in Stockton, but recently fell to the Bulldogs in their home pool. This weekend, Fresno State travels to face No. 22 Santa Clara on the road while SDSU will host No. 17 California Baptist. Overall, the top four seeds will earn an invite to the GCC Tournament in Stockton next weekend, which will be hosted by Pacific.
 
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
  • Tied for fourth place currently in the conference standings with California Baptist LMU could secure a spot in next weekend's GCC tournament with a win over the Tigers on Saturday. However, Pacific has enjoyed recent success over the Lions, winning 9 of their last 10 matchups, including their last meeting, a 13-9 neutral site win in Fresno.
  • Individually, the Lions are led by goalie Elizabeth Bradley, who is currently tied with Nathan for second in the conference with 62 total saves on the year.
  • Serving as their final home game of the season, Saturday's contest will mark senior day for the Lions as they wrap up their 2021 regular season schedule as well.
 
TRACK THE ACTION:
Live streaming of the event will take place via Instagram Live. LMU Athletics will film one segment for the first half, stop at halftime, followed by another film segment for the second half. Fans will have to click back on the link once the second half starts. The games will not be saved to the account at the conclusion of the games.
