MORAGA, Calif. – On Tuesday evening, the University of the Pacific Women's Volleyball (2-7, 2-7 WCC) team lost in three sets to Saint Mary's College, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 at University Credit Union Pavilion in West Coast Conference action.
 
MATCH SUMMARY
 
The Tigers fell behind early, as SMC (5-6, 5-6 WCC) took the first five points. Pacific was able to get back into the opening set, eventually tying at 10-10 after a kill by 
Riley Patterson. Shortly thereafter, the Tigers took their first lead of the match, 12-11 on a kill from 
Kaelyn Saler.
 
Pacific's lead would grow to as much as four points, including a 19-15 lead, but the Gaels went on an 8-1 run. Although the Tigers took the next two points from kills by Patterson and 
Alexa Edwards, the Gaels took two of the next three points for a 25-23 set win. Patterson had five kills in the opening set.
 
The Gaels led by as many as six points, 17-11 in set two. Pacific would eventually trim its deficit to two points, trailing 22-20 after a kill by 
Ramonni Cook, but SMC took three of the next four points to win the set, 25-21 for a 2-0 lead in the match. Edwards and 
Sedona Sherman each had three kills in the second set.
 
Although the Tigers had a 10-9 lead, SMC followed with six straight points of which all were one service error and five attack errors by Pacific. From the 17-11 lead, SMC cruised to a 25-18 win in set three to complete a 3-0 sweep on Tuesday.
 
NOTABLE STATS
	- Sherman and Patterson each had a team-high nine kills for Pacific.
 
	- Sherman had a .167 attack percentage on 24 attempts.
 
	- Gabby Leo had a double-double with 23 assists and 14 digs, both team-highs in each category on Tuesday.  
 
	- Hawley Harrer had eight kills to lead SMC and Jennifer Laird had 10 total blocks for the Gaels.

This coming Friday, the Tigers play the first of a back-to-back pair of WCC matches at BYU. Opening serve is set for 1 p.m. MST from Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah.
