STOCKTON, Calif. – UOP got back in the win column on Sunday afternoon, turning in a dominating performance for the 6-1 victory over Sacramento State at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center in Stockton.
"Solid job by our crew today," Pacific head coach
Mike Erwin said. "We got off to a great start in doubles which carried over into singles. We're stressing to the squad the importance of simply competing when you're feeling uncomfortable or being pushed by your opponent. It was great to see Elise, Zoe and Maya fighting hard, maintaining focus, and closing out their matches in straight sets to give us the win."
Doubles:
- Every UOP doubles team came out victorious in the three matches played. UOP set the tone early for the afternoon with their performances netting them a key point.
- Freshmen duo Maile Brilhante and Ella LeRoy had to work hard for their victory, as they picked up their first win as a pair.
Singles:
- UOP continued their standout play into singles where they won six of the eight matches on Sunday afternoon.
- Freshman Alexis Johnson picked up her first collegiate singles match victory in two sets on Sunday. It was all-around great performance for the Tigers following back-to-back one point losses.
