Tigers fall 2-0 to Cal on Wednesday

STOCKTON, Calif. - The first of five straight home games for the University of the Pacific Softball team took place on Wednesday afternoon at Bill Simoni Field. The Tigers were shut out 2-0 against California in a non-conference game and droppoed to a 7-9 overall record.

GAME SUMMARY

Cal took an early 1-0 lead when Kacey Zobac hit into a fielder's choice RBI as Lauren Espalin scored from third base being ahead of the throw to the plate.

Despite having Carly Lucchetti and Valeria Torres-Colon in scoring position in the bottom of the first with no outs, the Golden Bears retired the next three batters to lead 1-0 through the first inning.

To lead off the second inning, Karlee Sparacino launched a solo home run to center field, as Cal led 2-0.

Pacific had several opportunities to score runs in the final six innings. Four runners were left on base in scoring position as the Tigers were unable to capitalize on their chances to score, as the Bears shut out Pacific, 2-0.
