Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. - It was a victorious Saturday afternoon for the University of the Pacific Women's Volleyball team, who picked up its first win of the season at Alex G. Spanos Center. The Tigers defeated Gonzaga in a West Coast Conference match, 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20). Pacific split the opening series with the Bulldogs less than 24 hours after Friday's five-set season opener.
MATCH SUMMARY
Pacific opened up very fast with three straight points, with the first two coming off kills by
Kennedy Kaminsky. Kaminsky had three kills in the first four points for the Tigers on Saturday.
The lead in the opening set grew to as much as 12 points, and the Tigers finished the opening set, 25-14. Kaminsky closed the set just the same as she opened it - with a kill for a total of four in set one.
Also with four kills in the opening set was
Riley Patterson.
Gonzaga took an early lead in set two, 7-5, but Pacific answered with a 6-0 run that included a pair of blocks by
Alexa Edwards.
While Pacific built its lead to 18-12 in set two, Gonzaga rallied to tie the set at 18-18. A block by
Ramonni Cook ended the run, as Pacific regained the lead in the set and didn't look back. The Tigers finished the set, winning 25-21 and led 2-0 in sets. In addition to her two blocks, Edwards also had four kills in the set.
Although the Tigers led 4-1 early, the Bulldogs went on a 9-1 run. And Pacific responded with five straight points to be even at 10-10.
Gonzaga regained the lead after the set was even at 10 each. While Pacific never fell too far behind, Gonzaga maintained the lead throughout the set to finish ahead, 25-23. Edwards and Patterson added four kills each in the set.
Set four was highlighted by a 6-0 run for a 12-5 lead for the Tigers that included four service aces by
Riley Ramsey,
While Pacific went ahead by as much as 10 points in set four, Gonzaga rallied to cut the deficit to as little as three points. the Tigers finished the match with a point off an attack error, taking the set 25-20 and winning the match, 3-1.
NOTABLE STATS
- Edwards finished with a team-high 15 kills on Saturday. She also had five total blocks (four solo, one assist).
- Patterson reached a double-double for the second straight match with 12 kills and 14 digs.
- Ramsey finished with a career-high five service aces.
- Defensively, Jadyn Tubbs had a team-high 25 digs.
- Leading the Bulldogs in kills was Sarah Penner with 10.

"I think today was a full team effort I think in every aspect ot the game. Our passing, our serving, our attacking and our blocking, a lot of good block touches. It was really well rounded."
Ramsey speaking about the very quick turnaround and how the team responded.
"I'm really proud of everyone. It's physically and mentally demanding to make that big of a turnaround and I'm excited that we can rebound that fast. I think we'll be good for the rest of this conference [season] since we'll be playing back to back."
UP NEXT
This coming Tuesday, the Tigers host their third home match in five days with a WCC contest against San Francisco. It will be the first of a home-and-home series on consecutive nights against USF. Opening serve from Alex G. Spanos Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. During the 2019 season, Pacific defeated the Dons twice in conference play.
