JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. – The Pacific men's golf team finished fourth at The Joust hosted by California Baptist at Goose Creek Golf Club in Jurupa Valley, Calif.
The Tigers built off their momentum from the Nick Watney Invitational finishing fourth overall as they shot 882 (+44) over the course of two days in Southern California.
Loyola Marymount won the event with a combined team score of 852 (+12). Washington State and Idaho finished second and third respectively just ahead of the Tigers.
Riley Cohen from Loyola Marymount won The Joust as he shot a total of 209 (-1) across three rounds of play.
Sophomores
Leonardo Rigamonti and
Petr Janik led the way for UOP as they both finished tied for No. 16 overall. Rigamonti shot 76, 75, 70 over three rounds with an impressive showing on Tuesday to finish 221 (+11). Janik came in at 74, 75, 72 at The Joust posting the same stats at Rigamonti.
Redshirt junior
Riley Killip finished tied for No. 31 as he shot 73, 73, 78 for a total score of 224 (+14) in Jurupa Valley.
Sophomores
Maverick Pavletich and
Griffin Long placed tied for No. 36 overall as the pair finished with total scores of 225 (+15). Pavletich shot 75, 74, 76 and Long followed with scores of 75, 80, 70.
Playing individually, freshman
Haakon Mathiesen shot 226 (+16) with scores of 79, 75, 72 in his first collegiate tournament.
The Tigers will return to action next week in nearby Elk Grove, Calif. for the Sacramento State Invitational taking place next Monday and Tuesday March 1-2.
