Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. – With extra points needed to determine the final two sets, the University of the Pacific Women's Volleyball team fell short in a five-set West Coast Conference match to San Francisco, 3-2 (19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 26-24, 16-14). The Tigers drop to 1-2 on the season.
MATCH SUMMARY
Pacific controlled most of set one, winning 25-19.
Alexa Edwards had five kills on 11 attempts. Defensively in the set,
Jadyn Tubbs had 10 digs, and
Ramonni Cook had a pair of solo blocks.
After an even 7-7 in set two, USF picked up three straight points, all off blocks, and didn't look back in the set. The Dons evened the match at 1-1 by winning the second set, 25-15. USF had a total of eight blocks in just the second set alone.
The Tigers responded in the third set with a 25-23 win. Pacific had match point at 24-20, but USF prolonged the set with a trio of consecutive points. However, Pacific closed out the set on a block by
Kennedy Kaminsky and
Sedona Sherman for a 2-1 lead in sets won. Pacific had five blocks in the set.
The fourth set was an even battle. USF has at set point, ahead 24-23, but a kill by
Riley Patterson forced extra points. However, a block by Katie Wagstaff, followed by a kill from Greta Corti secured a 26-24 set win and forced a fifth and deciding set.
Ahead 14-12, the Tigers had an opportunity to close out the match in set five. USF responded with four unanswered points for a 16-14 win in the set and a 3-2 match win.
NOTABLE STATS
- Edwards had a total of 19 kills and 16 digs for a double-double.
- Cook led Pacific in blocks with a total of six (two solo and four block assists) and leads the team with 11 on the season.
- Riley Ramsey had the only two service aces for Pacific on Tuesday.
- McKenna Marshall had a match-high 21 kills for the Dons.
- Orsula Staka had 10 total blocks in the match for USF.
- A 13-match win streak for the Tigers against the Dons ended on Tuesday.
