THINGS TO KNOW:
  • Pacific has won its last seven meetings with Portland dating back to Feb. 16, 2017, including the Tigers sweeping the last three season series. The most recent meeting between the two programs came on Feb. 13, 2020, a 75-55 Pacific victory at the Spanos Center. The Tigers are 26-12 all-time versus the Pilots, including a 17-3 mark in Stockton.
  • Due to the West Coast Conference shuffling its schedule due to COVID-19 pauses, Pacific's last three games have been versus No. 1 Gonzaga twice and a road contest at BYU. The Tigers are schedule to travel to Los Angeles this weekend for a road tilt at Loyola Marymount on Saturday at 4 p.m.
  • The Tigers' most recent game was a thriller versus Gonzaga at the Spanos Center last Thursday. The top-ranked team in the country prevailed by a final of 76-58 in a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate as the Tigers led with less than 12 minutes remaining before Gonzaga closed out the game on a 30-11 run, highlighted by 11 straight points from Corey Kispert. Daniss Jenkins was Pacific's leading scorer with 13 points on 5-for-18, while Pierre Crockrell scored 12 points and collected six assists and four rebounds. Jordan Bell, who fouled out of the contest, had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. The loss marked the end of Pacific's nine-game home win streak.
SCOUTING THE PILOTS:
  • Portland, meanwhile, is still in search of its first conference victory this season and in the midst of a coaching transition after parting ways with Terry Porter following a 105-60 home loss to BYU last Thursday, Feb. 4. The Pilots' most recent contest was a 91-70 home loss at the hands of Pepperdine on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Chiles Center. The Pilots were led by Ahmed Ali who poured in 19 points on 7-for-14 shooting. Latrell Jones and Eddie Davis scored 16 and 15, respectively. After shooting 41.4 percent in the first half, the Pilots shot just 23 percent from the field (6-for-26) in the second half. Pepperdine's Colbey Ross led all scorers with 24 points and also dished out 12 assists.
  • The Pilots are led by Ali, who averages a team-best 18 points per game while shooting just under 47 percent from the floor and 36 percent from beyond the arc. Davis averages 11.9 points and a team-high 4.6 rebounds per contest.
