Tigers Set to Take on Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. -- After dropping a 63-57 road loss at the hands of UC Davis, the Pacific men's basketball team looks to rebound as the Tigers take on Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, December 4 at Titan Gymnasium. 
 
Jeremiah Bailey led the way for the Tigers in the loss as he tallied a season-high 24 points. Bailey, who continues to lead the team in scoring with 14.0 points per game, scored 18 points in the second half to spark the comeback as the Tigers faced a 15-point deficit at halftime.
 
The last time Pacific faced off against CSU Fullerton was in December of 2019 where the Tigers came out with a narrow 62-59 win. Jahlil Tripp and Gary Chivichyan each scored 16 points, while Pierre Crockrell II tallied three points and dished out three assists in 11 minutes of work. 
 
The Tigers and Titans have faced off 20 times since the 2005-06 season, with both programs earning 10 wins apiece. Both teams held four-game winning streaks during the last 20 meetings, with the Tigers winning four straight games from January 17, 2009, until March 4, 2010. The Titans followed with a streak of their own, defeating the Tigers four-straight times in the next four meetings.

• Saturday's matchup marks the 89th meeting between the two programs.
 
• Home Court Advantage -- Pacific has earned 48 wins against CSU Fullerton since their first meeting on January 5, 1974. Thirty-one of those victories have come at Alex G. Spanos Center, while the Titans have earned 26 wins on home soil against the Tigers since 1974. 
 
• Since the 2005-06 season, the Tigers have faced off against the Titans 20 times. Each team has won 10 games during that span, with the Tigers winning three of the last five meetings.
 
• Defense is Key -- Despite the loss to UC Davis, the Tigers held the Aggies to 44.4 percent shooting from the floor and outscored the Aggies, 36-27 in the second half. 
 
• Bailey scored a team-high 24 points in the loss to UC Davis. His total against the Aggies was the most points he has scored in a game since tallying 28 points against Loyola Marymount on February 13, 2021. 
 
Sam Freeman currently leads the West Coast Conference with a 71.9 field-goal percentage. The sophomore from Dallas, Texas, who has earned two starts this season, has made 23 of his 32 field-goal attempts.
 
• Pacific will appear twice on national television as the matchup at No. 1 Gonzaga on February 10 in the McCarthey Athletic Center was selected as one of the 12 games in the CBS Sports Network package with the West Coast Conference. The other contest is when the Tigers host BYU on Saturday, January 29 in the Alex G. Spanos Center will be televised live on ESPNU.
 
• Pacific was selected eighth in the West Coast Conference preseason poll of the league's 10 head coaches. At the top of the preseason poll is Gonzaga, who secured nine of the 10 first-place votes. BYU, who received the other vote, was second followed by Saint Mary's. Gonzaga, BYU, Santa Clara, and San Francisco each landed two players on the preseason All-WCC Team.
