Tiger Fall to Reigning National Champions

STANFORD, Calif. – The Tigers had their best shooting game from three against the reigning national champions Stanford. The Cardinal showed why they are ranked number four in the nation, shooting above 49.4% from the field in a 91-62 win over the Tigers. 
 
Anaya James once again led the team with 18 points, Elizabeth Elliott had 12 points, Sam Ashby and Liz Smith also reached double digits in scoring. James led the team with six rebounds, Ashby and Erica Adams both had two assists for the Tigers. 
 
The Tigers started the game keeping pace with Stanford, as the game was tied 5-5 two minutes in. Stanford scored 14 straight points however as they took a 19-5 lead with five minutes remaining. The Tigers had a 9-4 run at the end of the quarter, trailing by 12 heading into the second quarter. Anaya James and Sam Ashby both scored eight points in the quarter for the Tigers.
 
The best quarter of the game for the Tigers came in the second quarter, as the Tigers shot 50% from the field and 75% from three to outscore Stanford 16-15. Heading into halftime James had 15 points and Ashby had 11 points to pace the Tigers. 
 
Stanford extended the lead in the third quarter, hitting three threes in the first few minutes of the quarter to extend the lead to 18 for the Cardinal. Liz Smith had six points in the quarter, going 6-7 from the free throw line. 
 
The final quarter was closer for the Tigers, scoring 17 points in the quarter which was the second highest mark of the game for Pacific. Three different Tigers scored four points in the quarter including Liz Smith, Josephine Millard, and Elizabeth Elliott. Nataly Dunka also saw playing time and scored in her second appearance of the season.
